This jambiya was brought to German east Africa (today Tanzania) in 1913 by a yemenian person who participated to railroad construction during World War 1, he affixed on his Jambiya a 1/4 rupee 1916 when the war was over. He lived in Tanzania until his death and after that, the Jambiya survive through his descendants… Until 1972, my aunt kept it all her life too. There is a ruby cabochon in the bottom of the sheath, many sterling silver and gold inlay, I have no idea how much silver or gold, but it’s a poor quality gold about 4k gold and 450/1000 silver, the handle is made in a beautiful grey/lite brown buffalo horn. This jambiya never been touch, refresh or altarate but shown traces of time and of his story through ages. Total Length of the dagger with sheath: 33 cm. Length of the dagger: 32 cm.
